ILUM is a project of passion inspired by our desire to share our stories through craftsmanship, expressed through both the visual and olfactory senses. Influenced by travels over a lifelong journey of discovery, our designs have their origins in our European heritage which bred in us a love of aesthetic and beauty in its many forms. ILUM comes from the Latin word Illuminare, to enlighten. We hope our designs enlighten your home and your life.
The concept for Or Égyptien started with a family visit to the ancient pyramids. The most highly prized perfumes of the ancient world came from Egypt, which along with Geranium, Jasmine, Green Leaf and Rose buds are at the heart of this fragrance. The circumpunct dot, central to this design represents gold. It is also an ancient Egyptian hieroglyph for the sun. Because much of their art was religious, the ancient Egyptians used colour symbolically to convey messages. The blue colour lapis lazuli, a semi-precious stone, corresponded with joy. Gold corresponds with the deity.
